Color Separations:
Plate based technologies require color separations.
Each color has to be run on a SEPARATE PLATE.
The basic four colors CMYK:
C = Cyan (Blue)
M = Magenta (Red)
Y = Yellow
K = Black
These four colors are used to create various color combinations.
Doing the separations and mounting the plates require time and expertise, not to mention
you have to PURCHASE EACH PLATE.
Digital printing requires no such preparation or cost because NO PLATES are involved.
The ink is deposited directly onto the substrate (or Label). The system just needs
guidance in the form of standard software applications to deposit the ink droplets.
